Pirates

1999. NYE. There has truly has never been a music subculture as inclusive and uplifting as the UK Garage scene. The melting pot and coming together of people from all walks of life in super clubs.

Ive grown up south London black British Ghanaian. there are so many intersections that have shaped my identity . Whom I love, what I enjoy, what Iā€™m passionate about , what drives me forward. I think pigeonholing and minor stereotyping is something that I think all minority first-generation brits have struggle with and can relate to growing up in the UK.

What this film does so beautifully is illustrate that visual impressions bare no real insight into what truly defines a person. The message in this story is uplifting inspiring and hopeful.

Get ready for ultimate UK Garage nostalgia.
